I am delighted to have been selected to contest the local elections on behalf of the Labour Party in the newly formed Firhouse – Bohernabreena electoral area of Dublin South West. I grew up in the Knocklyon area; and I now work as a trade union official representing health workers in both public and private healthcare.
Our community has changed rapidly over the last few years, mostly for the better. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t challenges we face. the area’s population is growing and there is an increased need for services as a result. I want to be a strong voice on South Dublin County Council who advocates for investment in our public transport infrastructure, defends locally provided public services and argues for facilities that allow our young residents to thrive in our changing community.
I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible over the coming months; and I hope to hear all your opinions as to how our community can be maintained and improved.
My Priorities & Ideas
I ultimately want to act as an advocate for the residents in our community. With this in mind, there are three core areas that I want to focus on if I am elected to South Dublin County Council.
1) Campaigning for better public transport infrastructure for our community – Residents have told me that traffic congestion has become a major issue. If elected, I will advocate for better public transport infrastructure and connectivity which will hopefully alleviate traffic congestion and assist in reducing carbon emissions.
2) Campaigning for better public services – Population growth in our area has led to a strain on public services. If elected, I will work to ensure we have adequate services relating to health, housing and education for our community.
3) Advocating for Young People – Our young residents deserve to grow up in a community that allows them to thrive. If elected, I will advocate for increased facilities and services for the children and teenagers of our community.
